World Priest Day~Sunday, Oct. 26th

We thank you for all that you have done. We thank you for your leadership in prayer, and for your celebration of the Eucharist; thank you for bringing us into the Church through the waters of baptism; thank you for blessing and witnessing our marriages, for listening and guiding us back to Christ through the sacrament of Reconciliation and for everything else that you do in ministering to ChristÕs people. Living a life of service is not always easy, but we are sure that your rewards here and in heaven will be great. We thank you for your selfless generosity to all of us.

 

All Souls Day

A great many people wish to remember their departed families, relatives and friends during November, the month of the Holy Souls. Those wishing to do so will find a special envelope for that purpose among their Oct. envelopes. Five special Masses during November will be offered for those names you put on the envelopes.

Please have them in the basket by Nov. 1st.

Bethany Cemetery

Next Sunday, Nov. 2nd the Rosary will be recited at 2:00 P.M. at Our Lady of Sorrows Chapel, Bethany Cemetery. There is limited room in the Chapel so please bring your own chair.

Let us remember all our deceased parishioners, relatives and friends by attending the Special Rosary offered for them.  Rain or shine.

 

Baby Shower Items Needed

St. Christopher and St. Patrick will be collecting items for a Baby Shower to assist the Bethlehem House Pregnancy Care Center, located in Easthampton, which provides aid to mothers in need. Tags with suggested gift items will be available at each parish this weekend and next weekend. New items and gently used items are needed. Baby Shower items may be dropped off at either church the weekend of Nov. 8th & 9th.

 

Cathedral High SchoolÕs

Annual College Fair

Cathedral High SchoolÕs annual College Fair sponsored by the Counseling Department will be held this Thursday, Oct. 30th from 6:30 to 8:00 P.M. at the high school on 260 Surrey Road, Springfield. A Financial Aid Seminar will be conducted by a MEFA representative at 7:00 P.M. All area high school students, their parents, and school counselors are invited.

Home Mass

In an effort to be with our parishioners for a time of prayer and sharing, the Spiritual Life Commission has scheduled an evening Mass in the private home of:

 

Mario & Chris Torchia and Family of 117 Town Farm Road They will host a Mass this Monday, Oct. 27th, at 7:00 P.M. ~      283-9746

 

There will be time after Mass for discussion and a brief social time. We welcome anyone who wishes to attend. If you are planning to attend please call the host with your name, number attending, and if you are able to share a desert or finger food for the social time.

 

We are presently concentrating on the south and north ends of town. In the spring we will focus on the east and west areas. If you would like to host a Mass in your home in the spring, please contact the chair of the Spiritual Life Commission ~ Clara ŌTessĶ Dvorchak at 267-3916.

The members of St. PatrickÕs Spiritual Life Commission of the Parish Pastoral Council have set aside an evening Mass of comfort for all of those who have loved ones who have died over the past year. It will be our joy to welcome you and the members of your family and friends. We thank God for this special and prayerful opportunity to be of service to you.

  Letters were sent to the families who have lost a loved one in the past year. If you did not receive a letter or have lost a loved one over the years please join us for this special Mass. Open House

Holyoke Catholic High School

Holyoke Catholic High School, 134 Springfield Street, Chicopee, will host its annual Open House for prospective students for grades 9-12 and their families on Sunday, Nov. 2nd. Continuous tours will run from 12:00 to  3:00 P.M. Our Lady of the Sacred Heart WomenÕs Club/School Association will hold a Holiday Bazaar/Craft Fair on Saturday, Nov. 8th in the gym of the school at 33 Breckwood Blvd, Spfld., from 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. Used Books ~ the kitchen will be open for food. Raffle drawings begin at 3:00 P.M.

Team Trivia Night

News from the Food Bank: They need pasta! They also have a great need for coffee, tea, hot chocolate, condiments, sugar and jams or jelly. ChildrenÕs Liturgy

There will be a ChildrenÕs Liturgy next Sunday, Nov. 2nd at the 10:30 A.M. Mass. All students in grades 1-6 will be attending Mass with their classes. Children may be picked up by their parents after the Procession has exited the church. Thank you.

 

Donations & Crafters NeededÉ

for St. ChristopherÕs Christmas Craft Fair The Catholic WomenÕs Club is seeking donations for raffles and crafters to sell their goods at the annual Christmas Craft Fair. Tables are $35 each. The Fair will be held on Saturday, Nov. 22nd from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM and Sunday, Nov. 23rd from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Not a crafter? Teddy Bear Ministry

Youth Mass

There will be a Special Youth Mass for grades 7-10 on Nov. 9th at 12:00 P.M. All students in grades 7-10 are expected to attend this Mass. Attendance will be taken and this counts as CCD for the day. Families are welcome to attend as well.

Bible Study meets on Friday mornings from 9:30 to 11:00 A.M. in the Parish Center.
