    The cemetery remains a "quiet place" where, in the solitude of your thoughts, you can speak to Jesus and also in a way communicate with the family member or friend for whom you are praying. Your prayer is that that person has joined Jesus. The cemetery is the final resting place of your loved one's mortal remains, but your faith should have proven to you it is not where that loved one is. The cemetery does become a psychological link to that person, as it gives you a location that is more tangible for your meditation and grieving.

    Grieving often requires privacy, and a cemetery can be a suitable place to be alone with your thoughts and your prayers, focused because of where you are and the realities that a cemetery presents to us. It helps us focus on the fleeting nature of our time on this earth, and points us to the eternal, toward which we are all moving. A cemetery can be a good place for us to be stirred once again to seek a closer union with the Lord, and to put our own lives in perspective.
